Irrigation Materials Lab

With this Irrigation materials lab, the CTMetal puts to manufacturers and users' disposal a line of service in this strategic sector for the Region of Murcia and the rest of the Spanish Mediterranean Area.

In it the mechanical and functional characteristics of the quite vast range of irrigation equipment are rehearsed. Those that stand out as main materials are polyethylene in various modalities, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), copper smelting and soft steel smelting.

When it comes to irrigation systems and accessories, both the staff, the equipment and the procedures, are prepared and adapted to carry out tests of:

  • Emitting pipes system.
  • Low-density polyethylene pipes for micro-irrigation branches.
  • Polyethylene pipe unions with mechanical accessories for the conduction of pressure fluids.
  • Localized irrigation transmitters.
  • Polyethylene pipes and accessories in different modalities.
  • Fittings and accessories in different materials.

All the accessories and systems are rehearsed following the technical norms that must be applies. That is how the following tests, among others, are carried out:

For transmitting pipes systems:

  • Testing of the nominal flow and the manufacturing uniformity.
  • Characteristic equation flow - pressure.
  • Resistance to hydrostatic pressure at ambient temperature and high temperature. (P ≤100 bar).
  • Resistance f the polyethylene (PE) transmitting pipes to the cracks due to the effects of the active environment.

Centro de Trabajo

For transmitters:

  • Resistance to hydrostatic pressure.
  • Curve flow - pressure.

For polyethylene pipes:

  • Mass Flow Index (MFI).
  • Carbon black particle size.
  • Carbon black particle content.
  • Carbon black particle dispersion.
  • Elongation at breakage rehearsal.
  • Heat behavior.

As potential users of this lab, are on the one hand manufacturers of irrigation materials that have the opportunity to corroborate the performance and characteristics of their systems and accessories with the results of their own rehearsals. Another big collective that can benefit from this lab's services is Agrarian Cooperatives, SAT, and companies from the agricultural sector in general, which can evaluate the quality of their irrigation material suppliers.
